One cannot help but notice the effects the Mortgage Industry is having on the markets lately. The WSJ has an article on this each and everyday. Then is the fact that the titans of the financial markets e.g. Citi, Morgan Stanley are having to write off huge amounts because of their exposure to bad debt instruments. O’Neal of Merrill and Prince of Citigroup have even lost their jobs.
Which begs the question – did these mighty companies put all their eggs in one basket? One of the things preached by most financial advisors – most of who work for these Wall Street firms – is DIVERSIFY! Did these firms bother to diversify at all?
Maybe they should have practised what they preached.
